Dachigam National Park is located about 22 km from Srinagar and lies in the Zabarwan Range of the western Himalayas.
Dachigam National Park is a famous wildlife sanctuary known for its rich biodiversity and scenic beauty. The name “Dachigam” means “ten villages,” referring to the ten villages that were relocated to create the park.
The park is best known as the home of the endangered Hangul (Kashmir stag). It also shelters animals like leopards, Himalayan black bears, musk deer, and various bird species. The landscape includes dense forests, grassy meadows, rivers, and snow-covered mountains.
